Resolve Fitness

If you’ve seen the letters ATHX popping up in conversation, you might be wondering what it’s all about. We’re excited to share that Resolve Fitness has become an Official ATHX Affiliate Gym and we want to explain what that means for you, whether you already train with us or you’re considering Small Group Personal Training in Melton, near Woodbridge.
This isn’t a sudden pivot or a flashy rebrand. It’s a natural step for a gym that’s always believed fitness should be about more than appearance and it gives us a clear framework to help our members become stronger, fitter and more capable in all areas of life. If you’re searching for Personal Training Woodbridge or ATHX training in Suffolk, here’s how it fits.
What is ATHX?
ATHX is a fitness event series designed to test a blend of strength, endurance and functional fitness but at its heart, it’s a training philosophy that makes sense for everyday people.
Think of it like this: instead of training for one single physical quality, ATHX encourages you to develop several at once. A typical ATHX event might mix running, carrying odd objects, bodyweight movements and light loaded exercises, all in a race-style format. It’s not a 10k, where only your running engine matters. It’s not a powerlifting meet, where everything hinges on one-rep max strength. And it’s not a mud run that relies mostly on grit and grip. ATHX sits at the intersection of strength, conditioning, and movement capability - rewarding the person who’s genuinely well-rounded.
What makes ATHX different is that it doesn’t ask you to be brilliant at everything. It gives you a chance to test different aspects of physical fitness, whether that’s your ability to keep moving during a sustained effort, your strength under fatigue, or your composure when you’re outside your comfort zone. That’s what grabbed our attention: it reflects the very qualities we think are worth building.
Crucially, you don’t need to be an elite athlete to benefit from ATHX-inspired training. The principles scale smoothly. The same methods that help a competitive athlete prepare for an event also help someone who simply wants to feel stronger day to day, play with their kids without getting breathless, or build a body that works as well as it looks. That’s the real beauty of it.
Why we’ve become an Official ATHX Affiliate Gym
At Resolve, we’ve always believed that fitness should be about more than appearance. Strength training sits at the centre of what we do - we want our members to get stronger, safely and progressively - but we’ve never stopped there. We care just as much about building capable, resilient, well-rounded individuals who move well and feel confident in their own bodies.
When we looked at what ATHX stands for, it aligned perfectly with that philosophy. It celebrates all-round physical competence: the kind of fitness that helps you carry heavy shopping, hike with your family, or simply feel less tired at the end of a long week. Becoming an Official ATHX Affiliate Gym isn’t about chasing podiums - it’s about giving our community a meaningful way to train across multiple fitness qualities, in a structured, progressive environment.
For us, this is another opportunity to deepen our coaching. It introduces new challenges and fresh training stimuli, but always in a way that ties back to our core mission: helping everyday people - mums, dads, shift workers, retirees - get stronger, healthier, and more capable. Affiliate status gives us access to events, resources and a framework we can weave into our small group personal training, making the experience richer without losing the personal, supportive atmosphere our members value.
How ATHX fits into training at Resolve
Our training approach has always rested on a few key pillars, and ATHX gives them an even clearer shape. You’ll see these principles threaded through our sessions, not because we’re turning everything into race practice, but because they build a fitter, more resilient human being.
Strength: Building strength through structured, progressive resistance training. This remains the backbone of what we do. ATHX doesn’t replace that - it gives us more reasons to be strong. Whether it’s a deadlift or a loaded carry, strength makes everything else easier.
Aerobic Development: Improving cardiovascular fitness, endurance and the ability to sustain effort over time. Steady-state work, mixed intervals and conditioning pieces improve heart health, recovery and your capacity to keep going when things get tough.
Strength Endurance & Mixed-Modal Fitness: Combining resistance-based movements and conditioning to develop the ability to perform across different physical demands. This is where the magic happens - linking movements like carries, sled pushes or bodyweight exercises with bouts of running or rowing so your body learns to produce force even when you’re breathing hard.
Performance & Assessment: Giving members opportunities to measure progress, celebrate improvements and put their training into practice. It might be a timed workout, a benchmark strength day or simply noticing that you moved through a session with more confidence. These moments remind you why the work matters.
These four areas complement each other beautifully. Getting stronger enhances your endurance capacity; better aerobic fitness improves recovery between heavy sets; and testing yourself from time to time provides the spark that keeps training enjoyable. Together, they develop the kind of fitness that shows up outside the gym.
Is ATHX suitable for beginners?
One question we’ve heard a few times already: “Do I need to be super fit to train like this?” The short answer is no, and we want to be crystal clear about this.
Resolve Fitness is not becoming a competition-only gym. Our priority remains exactly what it has always been: helping everyday people achieve their personal goals. Whether that’s losing body fat, building muscle, improving health, getting stronger or preparing for a specific event, our coaching revolves around you - not an upcoming race calendar.
Not everyone wants to compete, and that’s absolutely fine. The beauty of ATHX-inspired training is that you can soak up the benefits - greater endurance, increased strength, more balanced fitness - without ever pinning on a race number. The same sessions that prepare one member for an event help another feel more energetic in the garden or less achy after a day at the computer.
For the members who do fancy testing themselves, we’ll be there to help. We’ll share information about upcoming ATHX events, offer guidance on preparation and provide the supportive environment you need to give it a go. But pressure? That doesn’t live here. You decide how far you want to take it.
What this means for Resolve members
If you train with us already, you can expect your sessions to pick up a little more variety and purpose. Our conditioning and mixed-modal work will draw from the ATHX toolbox - think practical, movement-based challenges that build real-world fitness - all while keeping the same focus on sound technique and steady progression.
You’ll have chances to develop and assess different aspects of your fitness, whether that’s noticing your recovery between sets improve or seeing how you handle a longer, more varied workout. For anyone who enjoys a tangible marker of progress, these moments are satisfying.
In time, there may be opportunities to take part in ATHX events and challenges, but nothing is compulsory. Everything remains rooted in a supportive, small-group environment where you can work towards your individual goals without comparison or judgment. The emphasis stays where it belongs: on quality coaching, progressive training, and enjoying the process. If you’re looking for Small Group Personal Training in Suffolk or Strength and Conditioning in Suffolk, you’ll feel right at home.
